Avoid it like that

Resident Evil 2, 3 PS1

For seasoned PlayStation fans, revisiting Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis on PlayStation 1 today feels more like a nostalgic visit than a fresh haul, now that the pair of retro masterpieces have quietly crept onto PS Plus Premium and the PS Store minus Trophy support.

Both titles are currently accessible with the highest PS Plus tier, or each can be purchased individually for £7.99 / $9.99. Yet, according to user reports and the absence of any Trophy listings on Exophase, these celebrated fear-fests will not part with a Platinum any time soon.

Regrettably, Capcom has demonstrated this pattern before: Resident Evil: Director’s Cut and Dino Crisis likewise launch without Trophy integration. While other publishers have increasingly added Trophy lists to vintage releases, hopes were high that Capcom would finally include them in Resident Evil 2 and Nemesis.

All indications from today prove otherwise.

There’s still faint optimism that an upcoming patch may later bolt on Trophy support, a route already taken for titles such as Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, Echoshift and others. To date, however, Capcom hasn’t revisited the original Resident Evil or Dino Crisis to award them Platinum Trophies.

For the moment, the only prize is experiencing two of the finest survival-horror adventures ever crafted — a reward that remains thrilling on its own. Peruse the complete PS Plus Extra and Premium August roster through that link.
