Update []: Rockstar Games has officially announced that the original Red Dead Redemption is indeed arriving on PS5, with a release date set for 2nd December 2025. Any individual who possesses the PS4 edition will benefit from a complimentary update.
The description on YouTube indicates that you will also have the ability to transfer your progress from the PS4 version, along with “a variety of [other] enhancements”.
Original Story: All the speculations and conjectures over the last year have suggested that Red Dead Redemption 2 might finally receive a native PS5 upgrade, but what if the initial game is actually the one being upgraded?
A fresh age rating from the ESRB board implies so.
Red Dead Redemption, the original title, has obtained an ESRB age rating for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Age ratings are typically awarded when a game is genuinely in existence and approaching the end of development, which suggests that this might be a legitimate project that Rockstar is currently undertaking. The description also hints at battling zombies, indicating that the Undead Nightmare expansion could be part of the release.
Initially launched for PS3 in 2010, the original Red Dead Redemption transitioned to PS4 just over two years ago as a rather basic port featuring only minimal technical upgrades. It was subsequently updated to operate at 60 frames-per-second on PS5.
