In principle
The PS5 is a hefty piece of hardware, even if you possess one of the newer, more streamlined versions.
If you’ve ever glanced at your console beneath your television and thought, “I wish this device could be much more compact and would abandon that peculiar design,” you’re fortunate.
YouTube channel Not From Concentrate has demonstrated that the PS5 can be compressed into a significantly smaller container, with minimal impact on its performance.
This segment gets quite intricate, but broadly speaking, NFC has managed to take the PS5’s components and combine them into a unit that’s approximately 60 per cent smaller than the original PS5 model.
The modified console featured in this video is a somewhat larger version, but it’s still considerably more compact than standard PS5s, and intriguingly, you can create one for yourself — if you possess the expertise.
NFC has made its plans and instructions on how to assemble this custom PS5 available for sale, but emphasizes that you’ll need to procure or 3D print specific parts, as well as have soldering skills and perseverance, to bring it to fruition.
Whether you’re capable of doing it yourself or not, downsizing the PS5 to a significantly smaller unit (that’s also much less conspicuous) is an impressive achievement.
At this stage, we don’t anticipate any further major revisions of the PS5, but it seems some innovative engineering can significantly reduce its size.
So, what are your thoughts on this miniature PS5? Is it something you’d be interested in owning, or perhaps even crafting yourself? Share your opinions in the comments section below.
