Raidou Remastered Highlights Some Huge Improvements Over the Original PS2 RPG

More a remake than a remaster

Upon the announcement of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, we have to confess some hesitation. The underwhelming Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster had certainly set a low expectation for Atlus’ remastering attempts.

Nonetheless, this revival of the PS2 action RPG is genuinely appearing to be a considerable enhancement over its original version. While the trailer above is merely 33 seconds long, each improvement showcased is a significant advancement.

In all honesty, this is leaning more towards the realm of a remake rather than a straightforward remaster. Visually, the game has undergone a complete renovation with fresh assets — even the settings are now constructed with 3D models, as opposed to pre-rendered backgrounds.

Atlus has also unveiled a brief overview of the previously mentioned action combat — another aspect of the game that has been extensively redesigned, with immediate access to skills and fully 3D arenas.

Raidou Remastered remains on schedule for its release on 19th June for PS5 and PS4, but are you excited about this title? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Perhaps a bit excessively, some might argue.
