PS5 delivered an additional 3.9 million units during the quarter ending 30th September, elevating the console beyond 84.2 million units in total sales and nearing the forthcoming 100 million units milestone.
Sales increased by 100k units year-over-year, indicating the system’s performance has remained steady, despite rising prices and a difficult economic climate.
Virtually every segment of PlayStation’s operations saw growth year-over-year, with first-party sales (boosted by Ghost of Yotei) increasing from 5.3 million units to 6.3 million units.

Monthly active users (as of the quarter’s end) also climbed from 116 million users to 119 million users. This positions the company favorably for a productive holiday season, as it aims to surpass its record of 129 million users.
For both the PS5 and PS4, Sony recorded the sale of 80.3 million software units throughout the quarter, marking a significant increase from the 77.7 million units sold during the same timeframe last year.
Thus, this represents a solid sales report from the company, with year-over-year increases in sales and only a minor decline in operating income. It will now anticipate a robust holiday season, supported by a new Christmas marketing campaign.
