PS Plus Premium elimination means they will be entirely removed

Resistance PS Plus Premium

Sony announced today that it will be conducting another PS Plus purge next month, similar to what took place in May 2024. This update indicates that 22 PS4, PS5, and Classic games will be removed from the platform. In a rather unexpected twist, this refresh also impacts certain PS3 titles on PS Plus Premium.

While this alone is concerning, there’s an additional consequence: Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will become unplayable on PS5 and PS4 following May 20, 2025.

These two PS3 classics are exclusively found on PS Plus Premium, which means they can only be streamed. Buyers cannot acquire digital versions of these games for download, unlike the PS1 and PS2 titles on PS Plus Premium.

Consequently, since Resistance 1 and 2 were introduced to the service in November 2024, they will have only been available for six months prior to their exit. After that, they will no longer be playable in any capacity on PS5 and PS4.

Removals of first-party titles from PS Plus are infrequent; the only notable instances include the two Horizon games that were taken away. However, those titles can still be purchased from the PS Store. Unfortunately, that won’t apply to Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 when they are removed next month. You simply won’t be able to access them on PS5 or PS4.

Resistance 3 and Resistance Retribution will still be available on PS Plus Premium — for now. This decision follows the recent price hikes across all three PS Plus tiers in various countries.

Perhaps these games are making space for proper ports to PS5 and PS4 platforms, but that may just be optimistic speculation. What are your thoughts on this situation, and does it impact the value you derive from PS Plus Premium? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments section below.
