Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake PS5

Work on the reimagining of the PS2 classic Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time appears to be approaching completion, as Ubisoft has reaffirmed its plans to launch the project next year.

Indeed, it has even refined the release timeframe to the initial quarter of 2026.

The publisher has featured the remake in its newest financial earnings report alongside Rainbow Six Mobile, The Division Resurgence, and “an undeclared title” as launches for Q4, concluding at the end of March 2026. Consequently, Ubisoft anticipates a release for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake sometime between now and early April.

Regarding that undeclared game, Insider Gaming reports it is the long-discussed Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake. In a recent publication, the outlet suggests the launch is scheduled for the week commencing 23rd March 2026.

Initially announced over five years ago, the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has faced a tumultuous development process, having been assigned to different teams at various times.

Most recently, in a social media update from June 2025, the Prince of Persia account stated: “Indeed, we’re still deeply invested in the game — exploring, constructing, and ensuring that the sands shift intentionally. This title is being molded by a dedicated team that genuinely cares, and they’re dedicating their passion (and a considerable amount of coffee) to every phase.”

According to Ubisoft’s financial statements, a PS5 release may finally be on the horizon. Are you still enthusiastic about a reimagining of The Sands of Time? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
