Whew—if you felt June was tranquil, just glance at the PS5 slate that arrived in July!

That may sound brutal. Truth is, July saw a steady flow of new releases—only blockbuster spectacles were thin on the ground. Consequently, it was a feast month for indie devotees, with a flood of pint-sized experiences scrapping for our time.

We got Anger Foot, The Wandering Village, Time Flies, plus Wheel World, all greeted by upbeat reviews—each delivering its own brand of originality. Imagination is still the indie realm’s beating heart.

As for the show-stoppers? July’s bigger names were the long-awaited remaster Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, and the intriguing Soulslike Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.

In truth, the latter might have stolen July’s spotlight, yet tepid feedback from critics and players alike quickly chilled its initial hype.

On the flip side, critics and fans alike are raving about Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound. The 2D action-platformer nails the sweet spot between retro punishment and contemporary polish, turning it into an instant darling.

Don’t sleep on RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business, either—a bite-sized follow-up to 2023’s gloriously stupid yet outrageously enjoyable Rogue City. And how could we skip Ready or Not? That tactical-shooter finally landed, much to the delight of players who love methodical military skirmishes.

All right, the ballot for your Game of the Month is nearly open. First, a quick rewind of every 2025 victor so far…

So, why the hesitation? Cast your vote for July’s finest in the poll below, then justify your pick down in the comments.

Robert (Rob for the lazy) is an assistant editor at Push Square, enthralled by PlayStation ever since Tekken 2 pulled him into gaming’s orbit in the 90s. He still obsesses over fighters, yet RPGs own his heart. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales—he has devoured them all. Probably to excess, depending on whom you ask.
