Pinhead Is Back! Single Player Hellraiser Horror Revealed for PS5

Famed English horror writer Clive Barker says he’s been venturing “deep into the recesses” of his darkest imagination to help make Hellraiser: Revival, a new single player horror from Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games.
Inspired by Barker’s universe, involving satanic Cenobites unable to distinguish the difference between pain and pleasure, Pinhead will return – with original actor Doug Bradley once again reprising his role as the iconic antagonist.
The game, as showcased in the twisted trailer above, will be a single player, survival horror action game, with a brand new story guided by Barker.
According to the press release, you’ll wield the power of the Genesis Configuration along with a host of earthly weapons, in a first-person experience that will see you inflict pain (or pleasure?) on your adversaries.
Here’s the official blurb:
“Discover the tale of Aidan, who must unlock the dark powers of the Genesis Configuration, a mysterious puzzle box, to help his girlfriend from a hellish abyss. As Aidan, you’ll harness the box’s infernal abilities to survive your pact with the sinister Pinhead and battle against the twisted cult that worships him and the Cenobites. Fail, and your suffering will be legendary, even in Hell.”
Barker, who’s helping steer the direction of the game, says the dedication of the team making it is “nothing short of remarkable”.
He said: “They’ve immersed themselves in the Hellraiser universe, capturing its essence – the seductive pull of suffering, the beauty within the grotesque – and forged a narrative that invites players to step beyond the threshold. I’m eager for both the curious and the damned to experience this new chapter in the Hellraiser mythos, where every moment balances on the brink of nightmare and revelation.”
There’s no release date just yet, but the game is available to wishlist on the PS5.
Additionally, you’ll be able to pre-order two different Collector’s Editions, including “an exclusive version of the Hellraiser Puzzle Box with a unique illumination effect inspired by the game, a special Hellraiser statue to display it on, as well as other officially licensed collectibles that have been created especially for these limited editions”.
Boss Team Games has a fairly good track record when it comes to these horror franchise licenses, as it was also behind the Evil Dead: The Game, which we liked quite a bit. We awarded the asymmetrical multiplayer game an 8/10 in our PS5 review, and described it as a “pleasure to play”.
But Hellraiser being a single player game has us extremely excited.
