Revisiting Remastered

Oblivion Remastered Updates

When Oblivion Remastered debuted unexpectedly last week, inquiries arose regarding the game’s ongoing support. Would it merely be a temporary release that Bethesda and Virtuos would promptly abandon?

Thankfully, that is not the case. Bethesda is proving to be remarkably engaged regarding the project, going so far as to solicit player feedback on enhancements they wish to see implemented.

The company’s official Discord server is actively gathering input from anyone who is willing to share, while Bethesda representatives have indicated they are consistently forwarding suggestions back to the development team.

We have encountered many valuable suggestions throughout the internet over the past week, and we’ve compiled some of the most common requests:

  • Enhanced inventory organization
  • A simplified method for comparing gear
  • More detailed loot screens displaying weight limits, etc.
  • Adjustments to difficulty settings (many find Adept too simple, while Expert is overly challenging)
  • Improvements to enemy scaling (some players would prefer it to be less severe)
  • Advanced AI for opponents in specific combat situations
  • A toggle for friendly fire to prevent accidentally harming allies in larger skirmishes
  • Icons on dungeons that refresh once cleared
  • Simpler navigation to dungeon and town maps (at present, you must hold R2 to zoom in on the world map and then press R2 again to access the local dungeon or town map)
  • Options to deactivate specific elements of the HUD
  • Possibility to modify your character’s appearance
  • Enhancements to performance and frame rates

Are there any adjustments you’re excited about seeing in Oblivion Remastered? Keep an eye out for rat jumpscares in the comments section below.

Robert (or Rob if you’re informal) serves as an assistant editor for Push Square, and has been an admirer of PlayStation since the 1990s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible realm of gaming. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true interest. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he’s experienced them all, perhaps a bit too often, according to some.
