Oblivion Remastered Participants

Oblivion Remastered has completely dominated the latest news landscape, and thus it’s unsurprising to learn that the revamped RPG has drawn in a substantial number of gamers.

Keep in mind, this was a surprise drop — a surprise drop that was rumored for months, to be fair — and it did not benefit from a comprehensive promotional campaign leading up to its launch on April 22nd.

It’s entirely reasonable to assert that the game’s unexpected debut has been exceptionally successful — and it certainly helps that at its essence, Oblivion Remastered remains very much Oblivion, in all its quirky and extraordinary splendor.

In that regard, it capitalizes on players’ nostalgia, while its various enhancements offer ample reasons to return to Cyrodiil nearly two decades after the initial launch.

Of course, it’s essential to clarify that we’re discussing 4 million players — not necessarily sales figures. The remastered edition launched directly on Game Pass, after all.

Still, Oblivion Remastered has evidently resonated. As previously noted, there seems to be a collective appreciation for the nostalgia, but do you count yourself among that audience? Pay the fine or serve your time in the comments section below.

Robert Ramsey

Robert (or Rob if you’re in a rush) serves as an assistant editor at Push Square and has been an ardent PlayStation enthusiast since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible domain of video games. He still approaches fighting games seriously, yet RPGs hold his true affection. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he has indulged in them all. Perhaps a bit too much, some might argue.
