Demise

As anticipated, Mortal Kombat 1 producer NetherRealm Studios is shifting focus from its PS5 combatant.
When the team revealed the Complete Edition of the game earlier in the month, numerous enthusiasts presumed it was Game Over for any potential DLC or expansions. This was in spite of series creator Ed Boon assuring that the title would enjoy “years of support”.
Now, nearly 20 months post-launch, the organization has verified what many anticipated: there will be balance tweaks and corrections moving forward, but overall, the studio is finished with the release.
“We recognize this may be disheartening for fans, but our team at NetherRealm must redirect attention to the forthcoming project to ensure it is as exceptional as we can make it,” the announcement states.
Rumor has it that they’re developing a new Injustice title, which likely feels overdue since the last installment in the DC fighting series was released over eight years ago. Personally, we believe NetherRealm Studios erred in launching Mortal Kombat 1 so soon after Mortal Kombat 11, as the demand simply wasn’t there.
Nonetheless, while certain fans are quite annoyed that the recent fighter’s support is concluding so quickly, others are expressing a more favorable response, thanking the studio for its contributions and urging them to bring their best with whatever they produce next.
