According to creator Yang Bing, the upcoming PS5 and PC character action Lost Soul Aside is a “AA game”. Sony, however, is charging £59.99/$59.99 for it.

This could be the game’s biggest bottleneck, according to Lunatic Ignus, a content creator who got hands-on time with the release at a recent event ahead of ChinaJoy 2025.

The demo, which featured about two hours of gameplay and spanned the opening chapter of the game, included multiple boss fights and combat encounters.

“The real problem [with] this game is that it doesn’t stand up for itself,” he wrote. “At times, it feels very cheap with animations and combat. Most of us don’t think the game will be a general success because of the AAA price, even though the Chinese gamers are intrigued in it.”

Personally, we were quite impressed with the latest round of gameplay footage, but game feel is absolutely crucial when it comes to character action outings like this, and we did feel some of the combat lacked crunch from the video.

Interestingly, Lunatic Ignus added that there’s more to the game than originally expected, comparing it to Final Fantasy 7 Remake. He said there’s “a town [you can visit] with a bunch of shops and NPCs”.

All of the mystery around this title should finally be cleaned up on 29th August, as that’s when the oft-delayed release is finally scheduled to deploy. Are you planning to pick it up?
