Make a MGS1 remake a reality
- by Liam Croft

Konami is scheduled to host another Metal Gear Solid Production Hotline livestream next week as part of TGS, focusing on the online Fox Hunt mode for MGS Delta: Snake Eater. There’ll be a survey going out after the showcase, polling fans on their thoughts, but the questions have actually made their way online already.
The most interesting questions have been shared online by the Metal Gear Network social media account, and one asks the following: “Please select all of the following Metal Gear series titles that you would like to see remade.”
Obviously, now omitting Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, you are able to select from Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, 2: Sons of Liberty, 4: Guns of the Patriots, Peace Walker, and even V: Ground Zeroes and V: The Phantom Pain.
The Japanese publisher has just finished bringing back the third mainline instalment for current-gen platforms through the work of Virtuos. Snake Eater takes place first in the timeline, so it’s the perfect jumping-on point for a newcomer. If Konami wishes to build on that and go chronologically, then Peace Walker would be next, followed by the duo of Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain.
There have been requests for a full remake of the original Metal Gear Solid on PS1 for years now, so it’ll likely be a pretty popular option in this survey.
Konami also seems to suggest a Volume 2 of the Master Collection is still happening, as it’s directly listed as an option in a question asking fans what they’d like to see in a future livestream. Volume 1 came out in October 2023 and brought Metal Gear Solid, 2, and 3 to modern consoles. Given the use of “Volume 1” in the name, it was thought another volume would be out by now. Two years later, though, there’s no second bundle to be seen.
