Launch is barely a month away

Honestly, we’re still pinching ourselves—Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is actually happening. Falcom’s legendary RPG has been entirely rebuilt in 3D and lands on PS5 only five-ish weeks from now, and its latest trailer has absolutely knocked us flat.
We’re not claiming the clip is a cinematic revelation—at its core it’s simply a refresher on the main cast and central story beats—but watching everyone brought to life in crisp cutscenes feels borderline surreal. For longtime Trails devotees, it’s practically wish-fulfillment incarnate.
Another plus: this remake seems to tower above the studio’s earlier projects visually.
Falcom is clearly banking on 1st Chapter to serve as both a perfect starting point for newcomers and a warm, rose-tinted pilgrimage for veterans. Remakes are famously tough to nail, yet everything we’ve witnessed so far suggests the devs have a hit on their hands.
What’s your take on 1st Chapter? Have you adored the original since 2004, or will this mark your inaugural trek through Liberl? Lay down your thoughts below.
Robert (“Rob” if you’re feeling brief) is an assistant editor at Push Square and has worshipped PlayStation since the 90s when Tekken 2 first pulled him into gaming’s rabbit hole. He remains deadly serious about fighters, though RPGs own his heart. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales—he’s devoured them all and then some. Perhaps to excess, his friends insist.
