Guilty Gear Cancelled Rumour

A few weeks back, an article claimed that Arc System Works had scrapped a fresh Guilty Gear undertaking — yet producer Ken Miyauchi now waves it off as pure fabrication.

In an interview with Dexerto, Miyauchi answers candidly: “It’s actually amusing; I had no clue. It was merely gossip. It’s curious how such chatter emerges out of thin air.”

The initial story landed as an exclusive on the usually trustworthy Insider Gaming, convincing plenty of readers — ourselves included — of its legitimacy. Miyauchi, however, appears genuinely startled by its publication.

“From my vantage point it wasn’t up to me. I can’t recall witnessing that [supposed title], and we’re not some mega-corporation, right? So if I’m unaware, odds are it was never really there,” he remarks with a grin.

So, case closed — the alleged Guilty Gear venture was apparently never on the table, leaving us to ponder the leak’s origin. It’s conceivable messages got muddled, and what truly met its end was a minor item, perhaps an axed DLC fighter or patch. We’ll likely remain in the dark…

On the bright side, supporters of Arc System Works and the wider Guilty Gear brand can breathe easy, as operations seem to be humming along.

Considering the smash performance of Guilty Gear Strive, a successor feels bound to surface — yet the studio presumably wants Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls off its plate before diving in, plus keep Strive supported (a commitment running until 2026).

What impression did this rumour leave on you? Did it ring true, or strike you as off from the start? Sound off (without remorse) down below.
