Take-Two, the publisher backing Rockstar Games in developing GTA 6, has conveyed its support for the developer after announcing that the anticipated PS5 and Xbox Series X|S title has been postponed to 26th May 2026.
In a press statement, chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick commented: “We are in full support of Rockstar Games taking additional time to fulfill their creative vision for Grand Theft Auto VI, which is set to be a revolutionary, blockbuster entertainment experience that surpasses audience expectations.”
Zelnick elaborated by stating that while the company takes the timing of its game launches earnestly and truly values the enthusiasm surrounding GTA 6, it will “remain committed to our pursuit of excellence. As we proceed with our impressive lineup, we anticipate a prolonged period of growth in our business and increased value for our shareholders.”
Following today’s GTA 6 delay announcement, Take-Two’s stock has seen a significant decline:
GTA 6 is now scheduled for release on current-gen consoles on 26th May 2026, moving it well beyond the initially revealed Fall 2025 window. Rockstar Games also stated that further information will be shared “soon.” They remarked: “We appreciate your understanding as we require this additional time to achieve the quality you expect and deserve.”
