Ghost of Yotei, the most recent historical sandbox from Seattle’s Sucker Punch, is dominating the market.

As per sales statistics emerging from Europe—which include both physical and digital data—the sequel is performing at a similar pace to its predecessor Ghost of Tsushima, which debuted during the peak of the pandemic to a significantly more mature PS4 user base.

In fact, it stands as Sony’s most significant new PS5 release since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, although skeptics might argue that the competition has been rather limited.

Ultimately, this suggests it’s exceeding the performance of titles such as Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, and even Helldivers 2—though we are specifically considering launch week sales here. The latter certainly evolved into a phenomenon across PS5 and PC.

Despite all this achievement, Ghost of Yotei was unable to surpass EA Sports FC 26, which naturally topped the GSD European sales charts for the week ending 5th October.

Other new entries that reached the top ten include Digimon Story: Time Stranger and Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles.

It’s worth mentioning that the overall unit sales ranking has been influenced by discounted software featured in the Steam Autumn Software Sale, which significantly boosted titles like DOOM: Eternal by over 8,000% after being sold for mere cents.
