Genshin Impact’s Summer Event Adds a Pinch of Splatoon, And Will Stick Around Permanently on PS5, PS4

Genshin Impact’s newest summer event will be sticking around permanently, as Natlan expands with an all-new beach resort.
The open world gacha has always added incredible new locations during the summer, but historically they’ve been time limited, meaning they’ve long since been removed from the game.
This year’s edition will be available forever, however, although there will be some minigames and rewards exclusive to v5.8, which gets underway from 30th July.
Before we dig into the details, here are the new redemption codes:
As mentioned, the Easybreeze Holiday Resort is a new island being added off the west coast of Natlan. As you kick back in your idyllic surroundings, you’ll encounter a few familiar faces, like Chasca, Venti, Bennett, and Mualani.
But it’s the new Splatoon-style painting mechanic that’s caught our attention. Here’s what the blurb has to say:
“Joining the fun is the resort’s cheerful mascot, “Asha”, who grants Travelers special exploration powers similar to those of the Saurians – making it easy to glide across water and hover briefly in midair across the layers of the resort. The Asha buddies are also master spray painters, and the colour they scatter along the way can solve puzzles and unveil more secrets of the resort. Yet, beneath the cheerful resort lies the secrets of Mare Jivari, where Bakunawa, the ageless monster, awaits new challengers.”
There’s an absolute ton of stuff to do, including, as mentioned, a whole slew of minigames. These range from shooting galleries to puzzle platforming and more, so make sure you login and complete everything for plentiful rewards, including a free 4-Star Claymore and a new outfit for Bennett.
Elsewhere, with this being the last major update of the Natlan era, the new location Nod-Krai looms large. A fresh prequel quest will introduce you to newcomer Ineffa, an “all-purpose household robot created by the Whiz-Kid Mechanic Aino of Nod-Krai”.
Ineffa is also headlining the first banner phase of this update, and will introduce a new elemental reaction named Lunar-Charged:
“When she is in the team, any Electro-Charged reaction triggered by party members will instead become a Lunar-Charged reaction. Upon activation, a Thundercloud appears on the battlefield, continuously dealing Electro DMG to enemies simultaneously affected by both Electro and Hydro, even with the possibility of triggering CRIT Hits.”
Ineffa will be flanked by Citali, while the second half of the update will be headlined by Mualani and Chasca.
Elsewhere, there’ll be a new outfit for Yelan, while further gameplay improvements will enhance the flow of time skipping, add new Talent tutorials, and incorporate improved material tracking.
There’s plenty of reason to revisit Genshin Impact before its big, all-important v6.0 update, then.
