“You changed his universe”

We exist in a time where even the most obscure vintage games are receiving contemporary releases, including SEGA CD oddities like Night Trap.
While it wasn’t harshly criticized compared to its contemporaries, it’s astonishing to witness Slam City with Scottie Pippen – a first-person FMV basketball title featuring the Chicago Bulls’ forward – being announced for the PS5 and PS4.
Scheduled for 2026 via Screaming Villains, the original from 1994 essentially functions like an interactive film, with the unique element being that you’re partaking in a one-on-one street basketball match.
Throughout the campaign, you’ll face five challengers, all showcased in grainy full-motion video, including: Fingers, Juice, Mad Dog, Smash, and, of course, Scottie Pippen.
Since this is a Limited Run Games project, anticipate a variety of wild physical editions to be revealed alongside the digital version, with additional details expected next year.
Personally, we’ve never engaged with this one, but we can’t envision it maintaining relevance beyond the simplest novelty.
Nonetheless, we’re major supporters of preservation, and it’s genuinely fantastic to see these niche 90s titles revived on contemporary platforms.
