Eliminate any aspirations for 2026

Intergalactic PS5

Sony is permitting titles such as Saros, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Marvel Tokon to spearhead its 2026 offerings on PS5, while the upcoming Naughty Dog game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, has been pushed to 2027, according to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier.

This past weekend, speculation about Intergalactic making an appearance at The Game Awards next month surfaced, fueled by remarks from Sacred Symbols host Colin Moriarty.

He indicated that insights from those involved in the project indicate the PS5 title is already finished in terms of content and could launch next year.

The assertions quickly spread to Reddit, where Jason Schreier dismissed them, stating: “I can assure you that Intergalactic is not launching in 2026.” He further refuted the notion that Intergalactic is more advanced in its development than anticipated, implying that Naughty Dog still has considerable progress to make.

Additionally, Giant Bomb member Jeff Grubb commented on social media: “It will not be presented at The Game Awards,” in reply to a tweet suggesting otherwise.

It’s accurate that Naughty Dog has recently been expanding its team, yet this does not automatically indicate that the project is nearing release — even if the roles involve finalizing and enhancing the game’s content.

Schreier further clarified in a subsequent post: “I can confirm that Intergalactic isn’t set for 2026 because sources knowledgeable about the game’s development timeline have informed me that it is not coming out in 2026.”

Notably, the possibility of a 2027 launch positions Intergalactic to debut alongside the PS6, as rumors predict the next-gen console might arrive then. This wouldn’t be the first occasion Naughty Dog has executed such a strategy. The Last of Us was released for PS3 in the same year the PS4 was introduced, and a similar approach was taken with The Last of Us 2, just prior to the debut of the PS5.
