Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is an incredibly remarkable game, and we believe many of you are enjoying your weekend discovering Australia – possibly with our helpful Death Stranding 2 guide alongside.
However, not everyone is having a fabulous first weekend with the title.
A variety of players have voiced concerns that the release’s map feature is causing their PS5 systems to become excessively hot.
A quite active Reddit thread discusses the problem:
I’ve been enjoying the game on a standard PS5 and overall it operates excellently – the visuals are breathtaking and I’ve encountered no problems during regular gameplay. However, as soon as I pause the game and the map screen appears, the fan immediately kicks into high gear and I receive an overheating warning. It’s peculiar because everything else functions smoothly, even during extended gaming sessions. But the instant I access the map and begin plotting a course, the fan goes berserk and I’m met with an overheating alert. I just cleaned the console not long ago, and it’s positioned in a well-ventilated area, so airflow shouldn’t be a concern.
A new update was issued recently, but it doesn’t seem to have remedied the issue, and this specific user appears to be in good company.
“I’m experiencing the precise same issue,” lamented one player. “I have the original PS5 digital model. The fans start roaring exclusively on the map menu.”
It seems that the dilemma is confined to the standard PS5, with the PS5 Pro performing better. It’s worth pointing out that the climate has been notably warm in certain regions of Europe and America recently, which could also play a role.
Yet there might be some kind of memory leak or other malfunction at play. The menu seems to operate with an unlocked frame rate, which could be what triggers the fans to overreact and leads to console overheating.
One user recommended sending a thorough bug report to developer Kojima Productions, ensuring they have ample information to address the issue and swiftly implement a resolution. That strikes us as a wise suggestion.
Are you facing any complications with the game? Is everything functioning as expected for you, or are you dealing with overheating challenges as well? Cool off in the comments section below.
