Concern Call of Duty Could Be About to Paywall Gameplay Modes 1

A new rumor has Call of Duty enthusiasts worried that Activision might soon restrict certain gameplay modes behind a paywall.

The speculation – originating from notorious series insider TheGhostofHope – suggests the firm intends to confine seasonal time-sensitive modes within its Battle Pass, implying that even if you possess the game, you may not be able to enjoy everything it has to provide.

While it could seem straightforward to skip these modes, it appears the publisher plans to link high-value rewards to them, compelling players to buy the Battle Pass regardless.

To make matters worse, this could all be introduced later this year for 2025’s Call of Duty title – and based on recent statements from parent company Microsoft, it’s set to be an $80 game as well.

All this unfolds as the community surrounding the series has grown more frustrated with the current state of the game and its offerings.

The recent incorporation of Seth Rogen as a character skin, for instance, has pushed some long-time fans over the edge, with one viral post in particular proclaiming: “This is worse than Concord.”

Ouch.
