Chrono Trigger Remake

Following the recent rumor regarding a Chrono Trigger remake that was soon dismissed within hours, Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii has provided a glimmer of optimism for fans eager to witness the return of the iconic RPG.

In a conversation with Gamereactor Spain, Horii addressed the 30th anniversary festivities of Chrono Trigger, which led naturally to discussions about a possible remake, a subject he appeared to initiate himself.

“Indeed, I wish to create something,” he confessed.

He added: “I receive numerous inquiries regarding the remake of Chrono Trigger, and thus I’m beginning to reflect on it.”

Whether this will progress into something tangible remains uncertain — however, Horii’s stature in the industry, along with his experience at Square Enix, should not be overlooked. Having played a pivotal role in revitalizing the early Dragon Quest titles through the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake and the forthcoming Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake, it appears there might be potential for analogous projects.

Do you believe we’ll eventually see a Chrono Trigger remake or remaster? Or perhaps even a straightforward re-release on contemporary platforms? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
