Yet fan intimidation crossed a boundary

Monster Hunter Wilds is far from what we would label as the most seamless PS5 title, thus Capcom’s choice to conduct a seminar on gaming optimization seems like a questionable decision.
To clarify, the Japanese company has produced some extraordinarily polished software over the years, so we’re confident it possesses important insights to share on the matter. However, its latest action RPG has plummeted to predominantly negative feedback on Steam, with its disturbingly inadequate performance being one factor contributing to that.
The publisher likely made the right choice by cancelling the earlier mentioned lecture, as noted by Automaton.

The session was meant to occur at the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference later this month.
Regrettably, the reaction from fans has been particularly severe, leading the company to publish a statement detailing its stance on harassment.
The correspondence states, translated from Japanese:
“We treat customer feedback and requests with utmost importance, as they are crucial for enhancing our products and services, aiming for quality improvement. Conversely, we have detected certain occurrences of defamation, slander, derogation, threats to harm or obstruct business, and intimidation towards our executives and staff by name or in a way that refers to specific individuals, through customer support channels, social media, and review/posting platforms on game marketplaces.”
Clearly, as the company itself indicates, this exceeds acceptable limits. It is perfectly valid to critique a product and advocate for enhancements, but threats and intimidation directed at personnel are utterly unacceptable.
Capcom did not provide a particular rationale for the cancellation of its session, but it’s probable these two incidents are interconnected.
As enthusiasts of Monster Hunter Wilds, we merely hope the publisher can persist in refining the game and deliver the type of optimization we are aware it can achieve.
