One of the most eccentric titles arriving on PS5 in the upcoming years, Showa American Story will now debut on the console in 2026, as indicated by developer Nekcom Games.
Initially unveiled in January 2022, it’s been a lengthy journey to launch for Showa American Story, but the studio now declares it’s progressing towards the “final phases of development” and is delaying the release to “guarantee the utmost quality”.
The complete announcement from executive producer Xy Luo clarifies: “I understand this isn’t the update you were anticipating, and I sincerely apologize for the extended wait. This additional time will enable us to provide Showa American Story with the quality it rightfully deserves and guarantee it aligns with the benchmarks we’ve established for ourselves.”
For those unfamiliar with the storyline, the game unfolds in a parallel universe where Japan has “acquired” the majority of the USA, to the extent that Japanese culture is predominant. “Nevertheless, a baffling disastrous event alters the world significantly. The established social order has vanished. An indeterminate period passes, and a teenage girl inexplicably resurrects, only to discover a completely new chaotic post-apocalyptic realm filled with zombies, creatures, and human survivors from various backgrounds and ideologies.”
