From the Ashes launches on the same date as the third film

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora did not ignite enthusiasm when it debuted for PS5 in December 2023, but since that time, it appears that the favorable chatter surrounding it has only intensified. This appears to be the ideal moment to explore it, particularly now that a third expansion has been officially announced to accompany a substantial update set to launch at the end of the year.

This third installment of downloadable content, named From the Ashes, is scheduled for release on 19th December 2025, coinciding with the premiere of the third film, Avatar: Fire and Ash. As the season pass content for the game has reached its conclusion (having provided two DLCs), From the Ashes will be available for an extra cost to all players. There will also be a new physical edition combining the base game with this latest expansion.

“From the Ashes is set shortly after the conclusion of the main game and embroils you in the tale of So’lek, a seasoned Na’vi warrior from the Trr’ong clan,” serves as the premise. “Ambushed and abandoned by the RDA and their new allies, the merciless Ash clan, So’lek awakens to a world ablaze and his Sarentu family in disarray.”

The earlier confirmed update for Avatar on PS5 will likely also roll out on the same date. This is introducing a third-person mode and New Game+ feature to the game. To ensure the switch from first-person to third-person operates smoothly (should you choose it), Ubisoft has “revamped animations, controls, audio, and camera systems to guarantee the experience is fluid and intuitive”.

If you’re quick, you still have the chance to purchase Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora at a 75% discount on the PS Store. Up until midnight on 24th September, the base game is available for just £17.49 / $17.49 or the Ultimate Edition, which includes the first two expansions, for £28.74 / $32.49. This will have you completely prepared for the update and the third DLC arriving in December.
