Gears of War: E-Day is currently one of the most highly anticipated releases for the Xbox platform in the near future, and it seems that Microsoft’s Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has recently connected with developer The Coalition to obtain a progress update.

In a post on social media to launch the month of February, Spencer revealed how he had enjoyed some “valuable time this week” with the team in Canada, to learn about the progress on E-Day. Unfortunately, he did not elaborate further, but he did share a photo of himself with the team. You can even spot him on the right side of the picture alongside Craig Duncan, who is now the head of Xbox Game Studios.

This conversation from Spencer follows an update earlier this week regarding the announcement that the developer ‘People Can Fly’ would be assisting The Coalition on E-Day. You may remember, this is the same studio that worked on Gears of War: Judgment back in the day and more recently released Outriders.

Gears of War: E-Day was initially announced last year in June 2024 and will utilize Unreal Engine 5 technology, returning to the origins of Marcus Fenix and his team. It has been rumored to be launching this year; however, no official announcement has been made by Xbox at this time.

Are you excited about The Coalition’s upcoming Gears game? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
