Peach Momoko Unveils Stunning Kimono-Inspired Variants for Iconic Marvel Characters
Peach Momoko is among Marvel’s newest talents, thanks to her acclaimed comic series Ideal X-Males, which
“When I illustrated the Marvel heroes in kimonos, my intention was to have people simply enjoy the depiction of these heroes in kimonos as a fashion statement,” Momoko stated in a statement. “I aimed to move beyond a strictly traditional portrayal, so I worked to highlight the character of a superhero sporting a kimono in a laid-back manner. The overall aesthetic is minimalist, but I hope each cover conveys a sense of wabi-sabi.”
For those unfamiliar, wabi-sabi is a Japanese concept that embodies a simple, organic beauty that resonates with the natural essence of a subject.
