Path of Exile 2 Players Celebrate Unveiling of Unofficial Item Simulator: “At Last, We Can Play the True Game”

Path of Exile 2‘s unofficial build simulator, Path of Building, has been released, and gamers are excited for what they are referring to as the “official launch of the game.”

For those unfamiliar, and in simple terms, Path of Building, created by LocalIdentity, allows players to experiment with various builds without the need to log into the game. It is particularly useful for competitive players, the audience it is mainly designed for, as it shows precisely the damage potential you could achieve along with your defensive capabilities when you configure your entire gear, items, and skills.

I’m not particularly into theorycrafting myself, but a tool like this is very helpful when you find a crafted item and want to determine whether it’s truly a worthwhile enhancement to your stats or just fodder for other uses.

If you’re familiar with Diablo 4‘s Build Planner Simulator from D4Builds, Path of Building is similar yet more interactive and refined.

The original Path of Building was released in 2016, so it has been around for quite some time, but this is the first of its kind for Path of Exile 2, which entered Steam Early Access in early December. To be honest, when I mentioned earlier that players are “excited,” it was a significant understatement.

“THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE, THANK YOU LEGEND!” reads a tweet from one Path of Exile 2 player reacting to the release of Path of Building 2.

“FINALLY WE CAN PLAY THE REAL GAME,” states another enthusiastic response from a Reddit user.

Weekly newsletters, stories from the communities you adore, and more

“Official launch of the game,” reads another.

“Finally the REAL game,” says yet another player.

Despite all this enthusiasm, I’m noticing some comments that suggest that indicate Path of Building is not quite finished but rather is only partially functional. This is to be expected for a tool that will likely receive continuous updates for years to come, yet it merits mentioning. On that note, LocalIdentity requests in a tweet multiple times not to submit bug reports for red mod text that is malfunctioning. However, if you notice blue mod text that isn’t functioning, that does warrant a bug report.

If in some way Path of Exile 2 isn’t satisfying your ARPG cravings, here are some alternative games similar to Diablo worth checking out.
