Nintendo Unveils Modern Trailers for Every ‘Donkey Kong Country’ Adventure on Switch

Get ready to come back… yet again

Nintendo has unveiled a brand-new trailer that provides a glimpse at every Donkey Kong Country game available on Switch, ahead of the launch of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD on January 16, 2024.

If you have a subscription to the classic Nintendo Switch Online service, you can currently enjoy every SNES game from the series right now. This includes Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest, and Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble.

Available as a separate purchase, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a remake of the Wii U title developed by Retro Studios, featuring a new Funky Mode for the Switch version while retaining all the elements that made the original so enjoyable.

Finally, we get another look at the forthcoming Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, the third release from Retro Studios’ initial foray into the platforming series. And you know what? It’s looking somewhat better than the initial trailer released earlier this year. While it won’t necessarily astound anyone, as it still appears to be a fairly typical remaster, it seems that developer Forever Entertainment has achieved better consistency with the visuals compared to Tropical Freeze.

That’s a type of Donkey Kong! It’s evident that Nintendo is aiming to provide its new theme park expansion in Japan a bit of a marketing boost, but something tells us that we might be in for a brand-new Donkey Kong game soon. Perhaps that rumored crossover with a 3D Mario..? Hmm, we’ll see.

Have you been playing some Donkey Kong Country before the upcoming remaster this January? Let us know with a comment down below.
