Nintendo Sales Executive Critiques Retailers’ Understanding of Change 2 Label

After several rumors

Placeholder prices for the Switch 2 have been appearing across various online platforms in recent weeks. But is there any validity to these retailer listings? During a recent episode of the Bundle & Krysta Podcast, a former Nintendo sales director seemingly aimed to “clarify the situation”.

When questioned about whether retailers are informed regarding the cost of Nintendo’s upcoming and highly awaited next-gen hybrid device, he asserted that these stores know “nothing” and “absolutely no pricing information.” Here’s the full exchange:

Bundle: “What’s happening frequently now is that a retailer will list something like ‘Switch 2 $400’, and people will jump to conclusions thinking it’s ‘confirmed’ – what do the retailers actually know at this stage?”

Sean: “Nothing, nothing…absolutely no pricing, likely no launch date beyond perhaps a quarter. It always makes me chuckle to read articles like ‘Walmart Canada claims the price will be this’; Walmart Canada is the last place to get that kind of information.”

These comments address various listings that emerged on prominent retail websites earlier this month, suggesting that a Switch 2 price could be lower than anticipated. Analysts have also weighed in with some predictions, and it appears these rumors and assessments will persist until the price of the system is officially revealed.

Nintendo is set to hold a ‘Switch 2 Reveal’ stream on April 2, 2025, which may offer a “closer look” at the new device, so there is hope that we will receive some clarity on the pricing then.

What are your thoughts on the Switch 2 and how much do you think it could cost? Let us know in the comments.
