Could there be plenty for each individual, my dear?

It seems that the official Japanese Nintendo eShop and online store have been struggling with high traffic levels ever since the Switch 2 was fully revealed during last week’s impressive showcase.

As noted on r/NintendoSwitch, the official Japanese Nintendo website now displays an apology message at the top, which has been conveniently translated in the comments (thanks to Reddit user Joseki100) so we can all understand what it means!

“The site is still experiencing issues. Some customers cannot properly view their order history and wish list. We are actively working to fix the system and apologize for the trouble caused. If the system isn’t functioning correctly, please be patient and try again later.”

In Japan, a lottery system has been established to manage the high demand for the new console, with those wishing to pre-order needing to meet specific criteria such as playtime, NSO subscription, and more.

Reports suggest that there is no specific choice regarding which Switch 2 or bundle you will receive, as a standard console, Mario Kart World Bundle or “region-free” version will be randomly assigned to individuals who fulfill the requirements and are selected in the lottery. Winners of the lottery will get the opportunity to pre-order the console or bundle they have been allocated.

[[Update: It seems that pre-orders in Japan indicate what you will actually be able to select for your bundle, so thanks to our readers in the comments section for the heads-up on that!

If all this sounds a bit cumbersome and drawn out, well, that’s where the complications seem to have emerged, as the multiple tests and reloads conducted by the system have caused it to come to a bit of a halt. Let’s hope it gets resolved promptly!

Have you placed your pre-order for the Switch 2 yet? Be sure to let us know.
