Newegg’s NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs Sell Out in a Flash
“Immense demand” states VP of Product Management
The online hardware shop Newegg has announced that it sold out of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs “within minutes” and detailed the influx of customer interest surrounding the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090.
“The reception to the NVIDIA RTX 50 Series has been remarkable,” admitted Jim Tseng, VP of Product Management, in a press release.
“The immense demand underscores the gaming and PC community’s excitement for the finest technology. For customers who have not yet managed to obtain a GPU, we are dedicated to collaborating with NVIDIA and our AIB (Add-In Board) partners to ensure future replenishments and ongoing availability. Delivering the latest cards to our customers is our passion, and we are pleased to offer a GPU trade-in program that makes it easier for customers to upgrade to the latest generation of graphics cards.”
Newegg disclosed that it took just 20 minutes to sell its entire stock of RTX 50 Series GPUs, and, as expected, traffic to the site experienced an increase of 8 to 10 times. Nine out of the top ten searches on the site were for the GPUs, which accounted for 18 of the site’s 25 most accessed pages.
While this is positive news for Newegg, shoppers expressed frustration over the alarming scarcity of the GPUs and the appearance of listings on auction websites with prices soaring over $6,000 for the RTX 5090, a staggering 200% increase.
