The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to have a new 4K Blu-ray release with a steelbook cover on March 4, 2025. Exclusive to Walmart and available for preorder now at $28, the Super Mario Bros. Limited Edition Steelbook is likely to sell out quickly. Walmart’s exclusive steelbook launches of popular films tend to sell out well in advance of the release date, and we’re discussing the top video game adaptation of all time here.
In an unusual twist, Walmart has also restocked the popular steelbook release. You can also purchase the Power-Up Edition’s Collectible Steelbook for $28, as well. This edition has been largely out of stock since just before the release in early June, but occasional, limited restocks have occurred at major retailers over the past year.
Now, the question you need to ask yourself is: Do you prefer Question Blocks (the new steelbook) or Great Mushrooms (the classic steelbook) more? Or you might be like me and end up acquiring both.

This latest Steelbook Edition of The Fantastic Mario Bros. Movie takes inspiration from the classic Question Block found in the video games (and movie). Instead of tapping it with your head to reveal its goodies, you simply open it like any regular case. The interior features stunning artwork showcasing the various types of gigantic mushrooms from the Mushroom Kingdom.
The steelbook is designed with slots for both the 4K Blu-ray and the 1080p Blu-ray versions of the film. Similar to the standard release, you’ll also receive a digital copy of the movie. The Mario Movie can be accessed on Movies Anywhere, allowing you to add it to your collection and watch it on any of your devices.
