Netflix Implements Price Increases Yet Again, Leaving Most of Europe Unaffected for Now
Premium tier escalating to $25 per month.
Netflix has initiated yet another series of price increases across its various subscription levels – including a rise in the Premium plan to $25 monthly, among other changes – but, for now at least, most European countries will not be impacted by these costs.
This news arrives as Netflix marks its largest quarterly subscriber growth ever, with 19 million new users having signed up for the streaming service in its latest fourth quarter – an achievement it credits to a mix of live sports and popular programming, including the second season of Squid Game, which has already garnered over 165.7 million views.
Amid these developments, Netflix anticipates generating more revenue than expected in 2025 – a rise that will, in part, be driven by a new wave of price hikes. These increases are primarily targeting the US, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina, taking effect today.
“As we continue to invest in programming and provide more value for our members,” the streaming service stated in its communication to shareholders, “we will occasionally ask our members to contribute a bit more so we can reinvest to enhance Netflix further.”
Consequently, prices are escalating across “most” plans. Netflix’s ad-supported tier is rising from $6.99 USD to $7.99.
