
NetEase’s Financial Landscape: Over 40 Million Gamers Engaged Before Restructuring Measures

This information is derived from NetEase’s latest financial report, which informed investors that it had “released several blockbuster games globally, further establishing NetEase’s dominance across various genres and increasing international momentum,” shortly after announcing cuts at a US support studio for Marvel Rivals.
“Marvel Rivals reached the top of the Steam global best-sellers chart soon after its launch on December 6, gaining over 10 million registered users within 72 hours and surpassing 40 million total users to date,” stated NetEase.
“The Season 1 update in January 2025 triggered another increase, securing the No. 1 positions on Steam’s global best-sellers and most-played charts worldwide.”
The Chinese corporation also confirmed that its gaming and related value-added services saw a 1.5% increase in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year, reaching $2.9 billion, thereby boosting its total annual revenue to $11.5 billion, up from $11.2 billion in 2023.
Net revenues from its online gaming business represented approximately 96% of the segment’s “overall net revenues for fiscal year 2024, compared to 92.9% for fiscal year 2023.”
In contrast, revenues from mobile games accounted for around 72.7% of total revenues from the online gaming sector for fiscal year 2024, down from 75.2% for fiscal year 2023. NetEase attributes this change…
