MultiVersus Players Voice Feelings of Betrayal Over Game’s Sudden Shutdown After $100 Founder’s Pack Purchase

MultiVersus players who purchased the top-tier Founder’s Pack have expressed their frustration towards Warner Bros. Games for discontinuing its free-to-play online battling game before they had an opportunity to claim all their rewards.
After discovering yesterday that MultiVersus’ fifth season will reportedly be its last, some players who invested $100 for MultiVersus’ Founder’s Pack have taken to social media, claiming they feel “defrauded” as they had bought 30 character tokens and 2500 Gleamium that they have yet to utilize.
While some note that with the addition of Aquaman and Lola, the roster will include 35 characters, some founders mentioned that “Gold was considerably more generous during the beta,” allowing them to unlock characters using the in-game currency, which is why they still have leftover character tokens.
Others stated they had been saving their tokens for “upcoming updates,” and since six of these 35 fighters were given away for free – Banana Guard, Jason, Shaggy, Wonder Woman, Lola, and Aquaman – many Founder’s Pack purchasers may indeed possess unused credits (thanks, TheGamer).
“23 characters were already available before buying the Premium Founders,” the OP elaborated. “They still charged for that. Which implies they promised the buyer that they would have the ability to use all 30 of those tokens, fully aware that they had unlocked everything that was out at that time.”

“That’s not how it functions. They committed to providing 30 tokens and you received 30 tokens,” replied another user.
“Anyone claiming here that consumers deserve to be deceived due to the wording ‘tokens’ instead of ‘characters’ is absurd,” posted one frustrated player.
“The nature of the product must be usable; if an item is unusable or described incorrectly at the time of purchase, the customer is entitled to a refund.”
At the time of this writing, there was no official statement from Warner Bros. Games or developer Player First Games regarding whether they intend to refund any or all of the cost of the Founder’s Packs.
In a communication to players yesterday, the MultiVersus team confirmed Season 5 will conclude on May 30, although the game will still be available offline “for the foreseeable future”.
