One of the few beloved locations in the Final Fantasy series is the land of Ivalice, the setting for games such as Final Fantasy XII, Vagrant Story, and Final Fantasy Tactics. Ivalice boasts many distinctive elements that differentiate it from other Final Fantasy worlds, including its unique rabbit-like Moogles and emphasis on monster-hunting clans. Additionally, a brand-new official board game from Square Enix will soon allow players to team up as a group of monster-hunting Moogles in the realm of Ivalice. Final Fantasy Moogle Bounty Mayhem is set to launch on October 22 for $45 and is readily available for preorder now.
Final Fantasy Moogle Bounty Mayhem
$45 | Releases October 22
Final Fantasy Moogle Bounty Mayhem is a board game that accommodates up to six players, where each player assumes the role of one of six unique Moogles and embarks on 15-minute missions to battle monsters and even collaborate with legendary characters from Final Fantasy XII. The game features original artwork by Ryoma Ito, known for his work on other Ivalice-based games, including Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and Final Fantasy Tactics A2.
Final Fantasy has given rise to numerous board game adaptations over the years, including games centered around Final Fantasy’s other iconic mascot, the Chocobo. Chocobo’s Crystal Hunt is designed for 3 to 5 players where each participant competes to gather—and claim—the most crystals. Additionally, there is Chocobo’s Dungeon: The Board Game, based on the Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon video games, challenging players to navigate Chocobo through a perilous labyrinth filled with monsters that changes each time you play. Both games are available on Amazon.
- Chocobo’s Crystal Hunt — $42.80
- Chocobo’s Dungeon: The Board Game — $80
If you are on the lookout for more Moogle- or Chocobo-themed items, there are plenty of new official plushes and figures launching soon inspired by both adorable creatures, as well as another Final Fantasy monster, the Cactuar.
