Monster Hunter Wilds debuted in February and managed to sell over 8 million copies within its initial three days, making it Capcom’s fastest-selling game to date. But how is it performing in the US? Quite well, it seems.

Circana’s Mat Piscatella confirmed that sales of the RPG in terms of dollar revenue in its first month in the US were more than 40% higher than those of Monster Hunter: World in January 2018. With over 21 million copies sold, Monster Hunter World is Capcom’s best-selling game of all time worldwide.

Wilds is currently the top-selling game of 2025 so far in the US. Another notable detail is that the dollar revenue from Wilds in its opening month in the US more than doubled that of Monster Hunter: Rise during its March 2021 launch. It’s important to note that Rise was initially available exclusively on Switch before expanding to PC and consoles.

Wilds is performing particularly well in the US on Steam, which accounts for over half of the game’s total dollar revenue so far, Circana stated. Wilds achieved more than 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam at launch, making it the fifth most popular Steam game of all time.

Overall, the Monster Hunter franchise ranks as the second best-selling Capcom franchise ever, with Resident Evil still taking the top position.

“There are a few missteps along the journey–both artistically and technically–but Wilds is another remarkable installment in Capcom’s cherished series,” Richard Wakeling commented in GameSpot’s Monster Hunter Wilds review.
