Mixed Reactions Greet Early Insights on Nintendo’s Upcoming Console

With the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2, gamers and industry experts have been sharing their thoughts on social media. The overall sentiment towards the Switch 2 has been mostly positive, though some remain doubtful about its ability to handle at least one of this year’s AAA titles.

GameSpot’s Tamoor Hussain provided an analogy for the Switch and its successor.

Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski wasn’t particularly impressed by the larger size.

Journalist Stephen Totilo contended that Nintendo made the smart choice by naming the console Switch 2, which may hopefully eliminate any confusion similar to that faced with the Wii and Wii U.

The last time Nintendo had a console that sold 100 million units, they followed it up with one that sold 14 million.

At least one individual found a silver lining in today’s announcement.

This reaction references the classic NES.

There have been numerous variations of this meme suggesting that the Switch and Switch 2 are quite similar.

Regarding the anticipated reveal of Mario Kart 9, one person likened it to Pixar’s Cars.

This player is notably excited about what Nintendo has in store for the future. However, not all original Switch titles may be backwards compatible with Switch 2.

Among the most awaited titles of this year, Grand Theft Auto 6 has not yet been officially confirmed for Switch 2. However, many question whether Nintendo’s new console can support it.

Nintendo has yet to announce a launch date for Switch 2, but some speculate a June release.
