Mojang aspires to extend its reach to “numerous devices as possible.”

Before the launch of the Switch 2, the creators at Mojang have announced that Minecraft will receive a noticeable visual enhancement. This information was unveiled during the latest ‘Minecraft Live’ stream for March 2025, and the update has been officially named ‘Vibrant Visuals‘.
The visuals displayed, captured on a high-end PC, represent an enhancement that can be enabled or disabled and improves everything you observe within the game without altering the gameplay or mechanics.
Improvements such as volumetric lighting mean you will be able to see sunlight streaming across the Overworld, and each block will cast its own shadow. Light will stream through your windows, and you will be able to see reflections in water and on the surfaces of metal blocks, while subsurface scattering gives a soft glow to leaves and grass.
Creatures and items will also possess a more noticeable glow – spider eyes will appear significantly more sinister in darkness, and torches will cast a smooth path back to your character. You’ll also witness this in action in the deep shadows. The sculk now exhibits greater emissiveness, adding to immersion and creating a truly enchanting atmosphere.
This visual upgrade will initially be available for the Bedrock Edition, with player testing also scheduled to commence “soon.”
The development team is currently assessing how Vibrant Visuals performs across “a variety of devices” and aspires to introduce this graphical overhaul “either fully or partially” to “as many devices as feasible.” Here are a few comparison screenshots:
