After last year’s 15th anniversary festivities, Minecraft has now entered the new year with its inaugural ‘Minecraft Monthly’ broadcast.
This significant update introduces the new animal mob variants – commencing with visuals of the new pig types. One will inhabit warm biomes, while the other is found in cold biomes:
“Pigs have been traversing the Overworld for 15 years – and now they’re evolving! This means we’re incorporating two additional pig types: the cold pig and the warm pig. The cold pig, adorned with fluffy fur, flourishes in the sub-zero conditions of colder biomes. The warm pig has a rust-brown appearance and roams the sandy dunes of warm biomes.”
Up next, we get to unveil the new cow variants. Again, one spawns in warm biomes while the other prefers cold biomes, aligning with the “theme” of animal variants in the game.
Additionally, Mojang is also introducing leaf particles that will drift down from trees in the overworld. These particles will match the colors of the respective trees, and the leaf litter can be utilized in furnaces or to enhance blocks. Furthermore, wildflowers will appear in the upcoming update and can be crafted into dyes.
“On your upcoming adventures in forests, dark forests, and wooded badlands, listen closely for the crunch of leaves beneath your feet. Leaf litter generates a rustling noise when walked on and can be used to embellish other blocks. In meadows, birch forests, and ancient growth birch forests, you will find wildflowers instead. These yellow and white flowers can be turned into dye and have four growth phases that can be accelerated with bonemeal. Position them at various angles to make your creations flourish in unique patterns!”
Last but certainly not least, there is the introduction of the new firefly bush – these bushes emit firefly particles, adding a wonderful ambient touch to your Minecraft world.
These features will be available for experimentation through enabling snapshots in Minecraft: Java Edition or by activating the preview/beta in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition – with a full rollout to follow in the future.
And to top it all off – Hello Kitty and Friends DLC was also recently introduced to the game – featuring beloved Sanrio characters such as Cinnamoroll and Kuromi!
