Matthew Lillard Joins the Cast of Daredevil: Born Again
Matthew Lillard is entering the Surprise Cinematic Universe – and I, for one, couldn’t be more thrilled.
According to Deadline, Lillard has been included in the lineup for Daredevil: Born Again. Character details are being kept secret (of course), but season 2 is set to commence filming in New York City next week.
The initial season of Daredevil: Born Again has not yet been released; however, it’s important to highlight that the revival show was initially planned as one single season comprising 18 episodes. After the initial episodes were discarded and Marvel implemented a creative overhaul, the series was divided into two nine-episode seasons. Initial reactions to the first two episodes have been positive, with many claiming it does justice to the beloved Netflix series.
Lillard is experiencing something of a (well-deserved) career comeback right now as he has joined the live-action Five Nights at Freddy’s universe as the villain William Afton, appearing in Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck, and reprising his role as Stu, the iconic Ghostface, in Scream 7. Everyone knows Lillard excels at playing the geek, but we also recognize he can portray gritty, twisted, and hilarious characters (the latter being a nod to his role in Twin Peaks: The Return), so naturally I am hoping Marvel has cast him in a villainous role.
Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney Plus on March 4. For additional information, check out our list of the upcoming new TV shows arriving in 2024 and beyond, or take a look at our guide to the complete upcoming Marvel movies and series you should be aware of.
