The new Mario RPG is available for just $30 at Best Buy, but this offer is set to expire tonight, December 6, at 10 PM PT. This marks the third occasion this week that Best Buy has lowered the price of the 2023 Switch remake of Mario’s initial role-playing quest. Earlier this week, it was priced at $38, and just yesterday it decreased to $33 alongside several other heavily discounted Switch games.
While many of Best Buy’s Switch deals are out of stock online, there’s a chance you might find them at your local store:

Remarkably true to the beloved original, Super Mario RPG is an impressive Switch title augmented with various quality-of-life improvements that make it more accessible to newcomers. Fans of the RPG series will appreciate the array of post-game challenges that truly test your skills.
Apart from these enhancements and adjustments, Super Mario RPG on Switch plays very similarly to the iconic original on Super Nintendo. The thrilling turn-based combat still feels fantastic today, the characters are well-developed and humorous, and the world design retains that classic Nintendo charm.
GameSpot’s Super Mario RPG review declared this updated version of the SNES classic to be a real joy. “Super Mario RPG is one of the most unique games in Nintendo’s lineup. Filled with quirky characters like a Santa-like antagonist, unexpected moments of dark humor–including Toad cosplayers as a form of humor and a four-eyed dog that devours you and critiques the flavor–and gameplay that is as chaotic as it is diverse, Super Mario RPG famously rounded off the SNES era. Fittingly, the new Switch version stands out as one of the most bizarre remasters I’ve encountered. Its superficial appearance as a contemporary Mario game is merely a mask. Faithful to the original, Super Mario RPG is a bold and largely successful venture.”
Although Big Mario RPG for Switch is merely a year old, Nintendo has unveiled two new Mario RPG titles since its release. An upgraded version of the GameCube classic Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door debuted in May. Extremely true to the original launch, the Switch remaster garnered a 9/10 in our review of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
In November, Nintendo breathed new life into the Mario & Luigi RPG series with Mario & Luigi: Brothership, which received a 6/10 in our review. While we appreciated the artistic style and storyline, performance issues, repetitive battles, and pacing problems made Brothership a mixed, although enjoyable, experience that might feel a tad lengthy for its content.
Both of these Mario RPGs, alongside Paper Mario: The Origami King, are currently discounted at Amazon and Woot, allowing you to snatch all four Mario role-playing (physical) releases right now.
