Marvel Rivals, a free-to-play 6v6 hero shooter, features a fairly extensive selection of Marvel characters to choose from. Currently, the group of Strategists, the support heroes focused on healing and enhancing teammates, is rather limited with just seven heroes available at the moment. However, Marvel Rivals is set to introduce numerous new heroes in the future. These heroes are ranked based on their utility derived from their abilities, potential healing output, and the overall advantages they bring to the game when utilized. The best supporters can keep their Duelists and Vanguard alive while still finding moments to inflict some damage. Although our tier list for Marvel Rivals support heroes is ranked, there are indeed no characters on the roster that are completely unplayable due to the game’s current balance.
7. Rocket Raccoon
Rocket Raccoon possesses a few positive traits, but his relatively low healing and damage output keeps him at the bottom of the rankings. His respawn mechanism can be somewhat challenging, as it brings back a teammate who has perished within range, but the shields it generates feel quite frail, since you’ll have to shield it from sight to prevent destruction. Rocket’s small hitbox also allows him to dodge danger more easily than other supports.
Nonetheless, Rocket’s healing orbs travel rather slowly and can also bounce unpredictably, making healing at a distance more complicated than necessary. His machine gun damage is also quite minimal, making it difficult for him to defend himself, an area where most other supports excel. Rocket Raccoon’s ultimate provides a considerable damage boost, but its stationary nature makes it more situational compared to other support ultimates.
6. Jeff the Land Shark
Jeff the Land Shark is the most adorable Strategist on the roster, but his basic abilities hold him back from ranking higher. His water spray healing is much more accurate at a distance than it might be up close, but the healing rate is somewhat low, resulting in you spending considerable time spraying down a single teammate. The healing bubbles are valuable and provide a nice speed buff, but a lengthy cooldown on those charges means you could easily find yourself losing them in the chaos of battle, stuck waiting on cooldown timers.
Jeff does have three aspects working in his favor: His water splash shots deal decent damage, allowing him to potentially protect himself from any overzealous Duelists. His submerge ability offers a quick escape, self-healing, and a reduced hitbox without a cooldown. Finally, while Jeff’s ultimate may not result in an instant kill, it does allow for the temporary removal of enemy players—potentially even an entire team—from the fight, which is a significant advantage.
5. Loki
There’s much to admire about Loki, but the resource management aspect requires considerable knowledge and skill to execute effectively without a substantial reward. Loki can heal by targeting teammates with his staff, and he can also set up decoys that may shoot as well. His unique healing ability creates an area around him and his decoys, providing significant healing over time. Loki can switch places with his decoys, allowing him to escape danger, and he can even create a decoy while going invisible.
The management here can be quite tricky, as it involves time and extra effort to place new decoys and keep track of which ones have been taken down. This is time not spent dealing damage or healing, which can be overwhelming for new players. In terms of healing, he doesn’t provide as much as those higher on this list and definitely requires more skill than many of these heroes. His ultimate is quite powerful, allowing him to transform into another hero in the lobby and immediately use their ultimate, but you must be able to see that hero to make the switch, making it more situational than it could have been.
4. Cloak and Dagger
Cloak and Dagger offer an enjoyable experience to play and come equipped with an excellent range of abilities, making them a fantastic support to utilize. Dagger handles healing by throwing auto-targeting daggers that can either heal or deal damage depending on whom you strike. While the healing and damage are somewhat low, you can also use her Veil of Lightforce to provide bonus healing effects, and her AoE healing ability generates a nice bubble that heals significantly.
Cloak focuses on dealing damage and applying debuffs to foes. His Fright Cape restricts enemy vision, making them take additional damage. His primary attack is a beam that inflicts rapid tick damage, delivering slightly more damage than Cloak’s regular assault. His dark teleportation grants both him and nearby allies invisibility, but it is relatively brief and only offers a fleeting moment of security. Their ultimate creates darkness in an area that heals allies and damages enemies, making it crucial for contesting objectives. Cloak and Dagger’s primary flaw is that you need to switch between them to either heal or deal damage, while many other top-tier Strategists can do both consistently.
3. Adam Warlock
Adam Warlock possesses impressive healing capabilities, inflicts substantial damage, and can revive the entire team with his ultimate ability. To begin, his basic attack delivers 55 damage and can critically hit, which is significant for a Strategist, even though it has a short damage fall-off range. F
