M2’s ‘Gradius Origins’ Collects Some Of The Shmup Sequence’ Finest And A Imprint-Fresh Entry

Shmup enthusiasts, rejoice! Konami made a splash in today’s Nintendo Direct presentation to announce Gradius Origins, an exciting forthcoming shoot ’em up collection set to make its debut on Switch on August 7th.

The Origins compilation brings together some of the most iconic titles from the Gradius franchise, including the new Gradius trilogy, the Salamander pair, and Life Force. Many of these classic arcade gems feature a variety of regional editions for you to explore, with the collection offering 17 ways to experience the six included titles.

But that’s not all! Gradius Origins also introduces a completely new shoot ’em up, Salamander III, providing even more bullet-dodging excitement to enjoy. As far as shmup collections go, this one is quite impressive.

There will be a host of new features added to the arcade classics too, including options to rewind, change difficulty, set checkpoints, and more.

While we’ll have to wait until August to get our hands on this title, pre-orders will begin on the eShop later today, so keep an eye out if you want to secure a copy right off the bat.
