London is now the third-biggest world hub for sport makers after LA and San Francisco

The capital of the UK has now surpassed most US cities, with Canadian favorites like Montréal taking notice.

London has now become the third-largest global center for game developers.

This is according to a recent study by Unscrambled and BOP for London, which found that the UK capital has “climbed” the rankings in terms of workforce size, achieving the second position behind Los Angeles and San Francisco.

London was already regarded as the “largest cluster in the UK” and Europe’s foremost gaming fashion hub; however, with 13,700 game developers employed across the region, it has now outpaced most US cities and Canadian favorites like Montréal.

Additionally, another 9,000 workers in London are engaged in “game-related” fields or are part of industries that have expanded to include gaming, such as entertainment and animation.

This news arrives just as the tenth annual London Games Festival commences on April 2, featuring over 30 events throughout the capital “serving tens of thousands of industry professionals and gamers.”
