Lego Pokémon announced, coming 2026
In a statement poised to send ripples through wallets everywhere, Lego has revealed its plans to launch a Pokémon-themed line in 2026.
Currently, Lego’s announcement reveals little more than two logos placed beside each other on a website, but already the company’s financial experts must be excited. Oh, and there will also be a Pikachu tail made from Lego. That’s quite impressive.
“Ignite your creativity in 2026 and prepare to construct something we’ve never crafted with Lego bricks before!” the company has suggested.
Pokémon has long collaborated with Mega Bloks to produce various buildable sets. Not anymore, it seems! Although Pokémon isn’t directly owned by Nintendo, the two entities share a close relationship, and this announcement follows several successful Lego series centered around Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Animal Crossing.
If I had to guess, I would say we’re likely to see buildable models of Pokémon that you could easily place on your desk or in your Ikea Kallax, rather than traditional Lego playsets that include Pallet Town. However, I would appreciate an Ash Ketchum minifigure, Lego, so please keep that in mind.
Interestingly, a statement accompanying the announcement from The Lego Group mentions that they and Pokémon “both have a long history of advancing the boundaries of social play, which is fundamental to this collaboration.”
“For the first time, the Lego Group will be bringing the most beloved Pokémon to life in a new way, with play experiences that will thrill both new and established fans,” the press release indicates. Is this suggesting the introduction of some new kind of NFC toy integration, possibly allowing Pokémon to battle with other players’ sets?
“We are excited to partner with a brand that boasts such a dedicated and enthusiastic fanbase as Pokémon, collaborating to fulfill the desires of our shared audiences,” Lego’s chief product and marketing officer Julia Goldin stated in a release today. “We firmly believe that through the limitless opportunities of Lego play and the thrilling adventures within the Pokémon universe, this partnership will create a range of exciting possibilities for Trainers and builders alike.”
“The Lego Group and Pokémon share strong values of imagination, creativity, and fun, making this the perfect partnership.”
