If there was ever a category I had hoped would uncover a Black Friday deal, it would be the Lego Nightmare Before Christmas. I’m currently assembling this set myself (it has been an absolute joy by the way), and believe me when I say it landed on my wish list before you could say “what’s this?” after its release. As fortune would have it, the Disney version just hit its lowest price ever, although you might need to hold on for a moment before the purchase button reappears.

To be fair, you can ‘pre-order’ it for $149.99 at Best Buy instead of the previous price of $199.99, however, it has now reverted to “coming soon.” I’m quite sure that’s a remarkable low price, and I’ve definitely been unable to find it for less on my journey this Black Friday. Sure, the Lego Nightmare Before Christmas set is available at Lego’s official store as we speak, so the pre-order situation is somewhat peculiar. However, because it was an exclusive in the beginning, I suspect this pause is due to it becoming available at different retailers.

Regardless, I can’t complain about such an incredible deal. It’s undoubtedly one of the best Black Friday Lego offers, so I hope it becomes accessible again. Best Buy has listed the release date as December 1, so it’s likely we’ll see more stock appear as that date approaches.

If you adore the Tim Burton film, you’re absolutely going to find plenty to love here. And sure, I know this is a glaringly obvious statement. This is fundamentally a fantastic tribute to the movie, after all. Yet, as with all the other excellent Lego sets, there’s an impressive attention to detail that emphasizes the respect with which these models are created. For instance, there are numerous delightful touches that really don’t have to be included (like a whole area concealed beneath the town hall featuring a skeleton trying to dig his way out with a spoon) but these elements have been added solely to please the fans.

Much like Lego Rivendell (my all-time favorite set), it’s essentially a diorama in three sections that captures multiple iconic scenes rather than just recreating one. These all come packed with their own secrets and surprises, making it as much a joy to glance at as it is to construct. If you enjoy mini-figures, this set’s selection will not disappoint either since you’ll be receiving Jack and Sally along with Lock, Shock, Barrel and a “Sandy Claws” for their abduction. Including the cone-shaped Mayor and tiny Zero the dog, that’s eight figures in total!

The 2,193-piece set does bear an 18+ age disclaimer, as it might be a bit more challenging with various small pieces. That said, this could serve as a fantastic Christmas Eve project if you have little fans of the Tim Burton film, and $50 is a delightful excuse for a self-gift.
